Description
Drive through the breadth of Nepal below the mountains on the Terai region on what is called the East to West Highway.
The tour starts from India’s border town of Siliguri entering into Nepal via Kakkarvitta, Mechi and driving all the way through to the western most part of the country to Mahendranagar, Mahakali. In between visit the site where Lord Gautam Buddha was born and different architectures of monasteries by different countries. Vist Bardia National Park home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, One Horned Rhino and Asiatic Elephants and various species of birds and animals. Driving all the the way to the far western part of Nepal till the Dodhara Chandani Bridge
Itinerary
Day 1: Siliguri to Chitwan (415m/500kms/11hrs):
Start from Siliguri early in the morning and drive towards the Nepal border of Kakkarvitta. After doing the paperwork at the border, head onwards to Chitwan.
Day 2: Chitwan to Tansen (1350m/200kms/5hrs):
After Chitwan drive towards Tansen. Tansen is a quaint small hillstation in the plains.
Day 3: Tansen to Bardia (250m/ 310kms/ 7hrs):
From Tansen drive down towards Butwal and from there drive to Bardiya. Bardia is the second most famous national park in Nepal who’s main attraction are the Royal Bengal Tiger, One horned rhinos and Asiatic elephants.
Day 4: Free Day in Bardia
Wake up lazily in the morning and participate in jungle activities and safari. Rest for the rest of the day.
Day 5: Bardia to Mahendranagar (250m/ 200kms/5hrs)
After breakfast head towards Mahindranagar. Enroute go to the Royal Family’s Summer Palace at Tikapur. Reach Mahindranagar at late afternoon and view the Dodhare Chandani bridge. Free for the rest of the evening to relax at hotel’s casino.
Day 6: Mahendranagar to Lumbini (150m/450kms/10hrs)
Wake up early in the morning for a whole day’s drive towards Lumbini. Reach Lumbini by late evening and check into the hotel to rest.
Day 7: Free Day in Lumbini
Wake up lazily and after breakfast go to the Maya Garden the site where Buddha was born. Spend the day in the premise where different countries have built Buddhist monasteries according to their architecture. Free for the rest of the day.
Day 8: Lumbini to Bardibas (300m/320kms/7hrs)
After breakfast start driving back towards Bardibas which falls on the way back to Siliguri enroute go via Chitwan. Reach Bardibas in the evening and rest.
Day 9: Bardibas to Siliguri (250m/305kms/8hrs)
Trace our way back to Siliguri crossing the biggest bridge in Nepal (Koshi barrage). Reach the border by mid afternoon and after crossing the border formalities head back to Siliguri.
